What do I do if my scans have white lines through them?

Cleaning your roller is the easiest way to resolve a scan that has white lines. This article will walk you through cleaning the rollers on your scanner.

If many pages have been scanned since your last roller cleaning, it may be time to clean your rollers.  

To clean your rollers, please use the following instructions:

1. Open the document feed tray. Press the button on the top left-side and pull open the front unit toward you.


2. Use a can of compressed air to remove dust and paper particles from the inside of the scanner.

3. Wipe the rollers with a cloth that has been dampened with water and thoroughly wrung out. Then, use a dry cloth to wipe away any moisture.

4. Remove the feed roller and the separation roller. Once removed, wipe the removed rollers with a cloth that has been dampened with water and thoroughly wrung out. Then, use a dry cloth to wipe away any moisture.

5. Reattach the rollers to the scanner. Now, close the front unit by gently pushing it up on both sides. Make sure that the front unit is completely closed by pushing until you hear a click.

6. Close the document feed tray. Then, open the document eject pocket.

7. Wipe the rollers with a cloth that has been dampened with water and thoroughly wrung out. Then use a dry cloth to wipe away any moisture.

8. Close the document eject pocket.

Have you cleaned the scanner's glass recently? To clean the glass of your scanner, please use the following instructions:

1. Open the document feed tray. Press the button on the top left-side and pull open the the front unit toward you.

2. Wipe the scanning glass with a cloth that has been dampened with water and thoroughly wrung out. Then, use a dry cloth to wipe away any moisture.

 3. Close the front unit by gently pushing it up on both sides. Make sure that the front unit is completely closed by pushing until you hear a click.
